Psychological Criticism
The practice of studying a literary work through the search of 3 major areas: the essences of literary genius, the psychological study of a particular artist and the investigation of fictional (non realistic) characters. Or also known as psychological criticism. We use this to understand the underlying motives and meaning of a literary work.
I find psychological criticism very interesting. Just think of every story or poem there is some psychology behind it. Whether if it is from the characters in the story or the speaker.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of over analyzing the characters or the surroundings. Psychological criticism interests me. It almost makes the characters feel like they are more than just words on paper.
ReplyDeleteI wrote a paper in my last class based on this perspective for the story Medea. It's a great approach, it makes you think of why person think or acts the way the do in the story. I love it.
