About Emily Dickinson
Emily was born in a family home in Amherst Massachusetts (December 10 1830). Emily's family was not wealthy and she had 2 siblings excluding herself. During her teenage years Emily spent 7 years learning English, classical literature, Latin, botany, geology and history at an academy. A young attorney friend was who introduced her to writing. Emily was in some sort of relationship with a man they refereed to as master, no one knew who he was only Emily. Through out her years Emily lost both her parents (at different times) due to illnesses. On May 15, 1886 Emily Dickinson died at age 55 due to illness.
It is hard to believe that Dickinson didn’t know who and what she was, even if no one else did. She kept her poems in a bureau drawer, but she had shared a few with her closest friends.
